Side note: Where you said 'it appears to have collision' when they wouldn't pass through each other- that could (and probably SHOULD) be the result of a 2d collider that travels along the terrain, like a little circle that is each units particular space that would be accounted for in the navmesh. He should put it in open beta and use some of that quick cash to hire a few people to help. There are tricks around this but not easy or fast ones. Unreal engine usually starts to see serious performance drops at around 250 units on screen at once. This requires every unit to have multiple hit boxes, for shields, weapons and body- probably have projectiles too. Unlike games like Cities Skylines where they do have hundreds or thousands of units- those units have no mesh, they're closer to a particle than a model. Is he making it in Unity? Calculating hit boxes, stats, and animations for so many units on a battlefield requires amazing optimization.

to be so balanced in both is quite a feat. I specialize in graphic arts, fumble in code. this is insanely impressive for a single person. Greettings from Brazil!! 5 месяцев назадĪs an amateur home brew game maker who considers himself to be quite prolific at times. Anyway.I really like your videos! I just never feel inclined to comment before. Perhaps this could be a future and really neat combat implementation to be considered by the developer (supposing that it won't be to overwhelming or purposeless for the community in general). I understand that this may be a silly thing to get bother but from me it sometimes breaks the immersion to know that there are no wounded units (fatally or not) laying on the ground with a proper animation. TW actually does have some dramatic death animations of soldiers kneeling before they die but thats all. There's absolutely no wounded units agonizing on the ground. I love RTS games like Total War and citybuilders alike, and I got absolutely astonished by this game! However, like in many games of the genre that I've played in my lifetime, I really miss the fact that all soldiers in a battle just die when a fatal blow is inflicted. I know this is a relatively old video but I would like to use this space to make a suggestion in hope that RepublicOfPlay may see this someday.
